The Center for Human Rights is established with the mission of promoting human rights through multidisciplinary research, training, and community service programs.
It was established in October 2008 as part of Addis Ababa University’s epistemological and structural shift from a primarily undergraduate studies institution to a research-oriented graduate university. The Center for Human Rights has the mission of advancing the rule of law, democratic governance, and human rights in Ethiopia through high-end research, teaching, and community services.
Launching of Support Human Rights Teaching , Research and Community Engagement (STRACE – II Project)
Addis Ababa University and the Embassy of Sweden in Addis Ababa officiated the launching of the Project to Support Human Rights Teaching, Research and Community Engagement of the Center for Human Rights-Addis Ababa University. The three-year STRACE II project, with a budget of over ETB 84 million, aims to empower vulnerable communities, influence policymakers, and raise awareness about human rights across the country.
